Temple :Neither the priests, nor the devotee are allowed to see the deity.
Uttarakhand is also known as Dev bhoomi and is home to religious places full of mystery and enchantment and one such temple is Latu Devta temple in Van village in Deval block of District Chamoli .
The temple is thought to be the home of Naagraja, the serpent king from Hindu mythology, along with the gem known as “mani,” which is invisible to humans. Additionally, locals hold the opinion that if someone sees mani, they will become blind and lose their sight.
According to an ancient tradition, the doors of the temple are opened by a blindfolded priest. No one except the priest who opens the temple is allowed .it is believed that the smell of the mouth of the priest should not reach the deity and the poisonous smell of Nagraja should not reach the nose of the priest.
The devotees are not allowed to enter the temple and have darshan.The temple remain open for six months but no one enter the temple for worship.

Latu Devta Story :
According to mythology, Latu Devta is the “religious brother” (Dharm Bhai)of Uttarakhand’s Aaradhya Devi “Nanda Devi”. When Lord Shiva got married with Maa Parvati, all the brothers went towards Kailash to bid farewell to Parvati (also known as Nanda ). His cousin Latu was also involved in this.
On the way Latu Devta felt thirsty. He started wandering here and there for water.
He entered a room in search of water and asked an elderly man to get him some. The old man informed him ,one of the two pots stored in the room’s corner contained water.
Latu drank from the pot that contained local alcohol. Latu made a scene and annoyed the people.Nanda Devi got angry and she ordered the villagers to tie Latu.
When Latu came to his senses, He asked for forgiveness by telling Nanda Devi the reason for her weird behavior.
Maa Nanda Devi told him, a temple dedicated to him will be built in the village of Vaan(Chamoli Uttarakhand), and people will worship him on the full moon(Purnima) in the month of Vaishakh , In addition, when Nanda Devi visits Rajjat once every 12 years, Laatu Devta would also worshipped. Since that time, the Latu devta is also worshiped in Vaan village’s which is Nanda Rajjat’s 12th halt.

उत्तराखंड को देवभूमि के रूप में भी जाना जाता है और यह रहस्य और जादू से भरे धार्मिक स्थानों का घर है और ऐसा ही एक मंदिर चमोली जिले के देवल ब्लॉक के वाण गांव में लाटू देवता मंदिर है।
माना जाता है कि यह मंदिर हिंदू पौराणिक कथाओं के सर्पों के राजा नागराज का है जो “मणि” के साथ यहाँ स्तिथ हैं ,जो मनुष्यों के लिए अदृश्य है। इसके अतिरिक्त, स्थानीय लोगों का मत है कि यदि कोई मणि को देख लेता है, तो वह अंधा हो जाएगा और अपनी दृष्टि खो देगा।
एक प्राचीन परंपरा के अनुसार, मंदिर के दरवाजे आंखों पर पट्टी बांधे पुजारी द्वारा खोले जाते हैं। मंदिर खोलने की पुजारी के अलावा किसी को अनुमति नहीं है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि पुजारी के मुंह की गंध देवता तक नहीं पहुंचनी चाहिए और नागराज की जहरीली गंध पुजारी की नाक तक नहीं पहुंचनी चाहिए।
भक्तों को मंदिर में प्रवेश करने और दर्शन करने की अनुमति नहीं है। मंदिर छह महीने तक खुला रहता है लेकिन पूजा के लिए कोई भी मंदिर में प्रवेश नहीं करता है।

लाटू देवता की कहानी-Latu Devta ki kahani
पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार, लाटू देवता उत्तराखंड की आराध्या देवी “नंदा देवी” के “धार्मिक भाई” (धर्म भाई) हैं। जब भगवान शिव का विवाह माँ पार्वती के साथ हुआ, तो सभी भाई पार्वती (जिन्हें नंदा भी कहा जाता है) को विदा करने के लिए कैलाश की ओर चल पड़े। इसमें उसका चचेरा भाई लाटू भी शामिल था।
रास्ते में लाटू देवता को प्यास लगी। वह पानी के लिए इधर-उधर भटकने लगा।
वह पानी की तलाश में एक कमरे में घुस गया और एक बुजुर्ग व्यक्ति से कुछ लाने को कहा। बूढ़े आदमी ने उसे बताया, कमरे के कोने में रखे दो बर्तनों में से एक में पानी है।
लाटू ने उसी मटके से पिया जिसमें देसी शराब थी। लाटू ने तमाशा किया और लोगों को नाराज किया। नंदा देवी को गुस्सा आया और उन्होंने ग्रामीणों को लाटू को बांधने का आदेश दिया।
जब लाटू को होश आया तो उसने नंदा देवी को उसके अजीब व्यवहार का कारण बताकर क्षमा मांगी।
माँ नंदा देवी ने उन्हें बताया की वाण (चमोली उत्तराखंड) के गांव में उन्हें समर्पित एक मंदिर बनाया जाएगा, और वैशाख के महीने में पूर्णिमा (पूर्णिमा) पर लोग उनकी पूजा करेंगे, इसके अलावा, जब नंदा देवी राजजात का दौरा करेंगी हर 12 साल में एक बार, लाटू देवता की भी पूजा होगी । उस समय से, लाटू देवता की पूजा वाण गांव में भी की जाती है, जो नंदा राजजात का 12वां पड़ाव है।
